About Us

The purchase of "Solemates" in the summer of 2008 began a new chapter in our lives. We hope to begin exploring more of the world by sea, beginning in the spring of 2010 with the Sea of Cortez and Southern California, and eventually south to the Panama Canal and points beyond....taking time to thoroughly explore and enjoy along the way. We look forward to sharing our adventures and experiences with friends and family along the way!

another round of weather????

So.....water spouts, hurricane force winds, and now....a tsunami warning???  We're thinking about everyone in Chile who's living through the aftermath of the earthquake and about all of our friends on the Pacific Coast of anywhere.  We're especially thinking of those of you living in Hawaii and will be waiting to hear from you once this isall over.  We hope everyone stays safe and that all of the worry is for nothing.  Could happen, right?

We're waiting to see how the reports come in during the morning before we decide what to do ourselves.  There's some debate aboard our boat as to whether it's best to head out to sea (although at 8 knots we won't get too far out!!) or desert the boat and head inland in the car.  At least it's happening today while we're here instead of next week while we're back home.  What a winter!

Be safe, love to you all!

  1. In checking the tsunami warning center, you should only see as much as a foot in PV. That could still be interesting though at the dock. Let us know what happens. My mom lives on the Big Island of HI and she's wearing her water wings now!!! She's not in a tsunami zone but just in case, she's ready.

I missed your last blog with the waterspout photo (where you also referenced my last comment). Hey, while you may not be enjoying the crazy weather this season it is giving you good stuff for your blog both in writing and pictures! Thanks for sharing.

    Be safe!!!
